This section still under construction More about our instructors (in no particular order) : Roy Lopez (Border Patrol/ BORSTAR) - Advanced Airscent Roy Lopez has been a K9 handler in the Border Patrol for 9 years and an Instructor for over 5. During this time he has nearly 2,000 people finds as well as numerous rescues and recoveries. He has personally trained 11 dogs from beginning through certification in the disciplines of trailing, area search, or cadaver. Since graduating from the first Border Patrol SAR K9 class Mr. Lopez has been instrumental in starting both the BP Canine HRD program as well as the Horse Patrol’s Canine program. Throughout his career he has taught courses and conducted certification testing at workshops and conferences around the nation. Founding member of the BORSTAR team. Janet Geist - Intermediate Airscent Janet is a founding member of NASDA. She is currently working her second dog, Chaos (Malinois) in airscent and is she and Chaos are a NASAR Canine SarTech II team. Janet and her previous dog Jester were a CST III and HRD team. Janet has taught at several CSAR seminars before and enjoys working with teams to improve their skills and challenge them a little bit. She is also a NASAR Canine Evaluator. Robin Habeger - Intermediate Airscent Robin Habeger began Search and Rescue
in 2001 as a Canine Handler. Her disciplines include wilderness search,
human remains detection, water search and disaster response. Robin has
responded to numerous missions on a local and state level. In addition
to responding to search missions, Robin instructs and evaluates on a
national level. She is a rostered Canine Lead Evaluator for the National
Association for Search and Rescue and the Search Dogs of the United States.
She has instructed and evaluated across the United States. Corbin Hodge -- Intermediate Trailing Corbin is a K-9 handler / trainer for East Texas Search and Rescue and Texas Bloodhound Search and Rescue. Corbin has worked major cases including federal escapees, homicides, various criminal cases, as well as lost and missing persons. Corbin’s current canine partner ‘Jersey’ is a 5-year old female Bloodhound trained in mantrailing. Involved in many high profile cases throughout Texas, Corbin has assisted the FBI, US Marshall’s Office, Texas Rangers, United States Parks Service, and other Federal, State, County and Local law enforcement agencies. Corbin has taught at numerous canine mantrailing seminars throughout the United States. Denver Holder -- Intermediate HRD Denver works as an hourly training facilitator for Blue Ridge Paper in Canton, NC. He is also a member of the Emergency Response Team at the mill, responding as both a firefighter and on HAZMAT incidents. Denver works part-time as a hot-shot crewman with the NC Forest Service. Denver has been a member of NCSARDA since 1983 and has served as president of the organization since 1984. During his service with NCSARDA, Denver has worked mantrailing, airscenting and cadaver dogs, and has participated in over 1100 SAR missions. He has been on searches in North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, Missouri, Alabama, and Georgia. He has instructed at SAR seminars in North Carolina, Ohio, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. Denver has served as an officer in the following organizations: Western NC Association of Rescue Squads, NC SAR Advisory Council, North American Search Dog Network, CSAR, Center Pigeon Fire Department, and the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to dog training classes, Denver instructs: OSHA training classes at various area factories, PR and First Aid for the AHA, Land Navigation, GPS, NIMS I-100 -- I-400, Visual Tracking, Manageing Search Operations, SAR Fundamentals, Wilderness Survival, Facilitation Traini-the-Trainer, and is a presenter for both "Lost in the Woods" and "Hug-a-Tree and Survive" programs. Mark Holmes -- Intermediate Trailing A 24-year police officer currently assigned as a Detective in the
Criminal Investigations Division for the past 12 years. Prior to his current
assignment, Mark was a Field Training Officer for eight years. He is a
member of SWAT and is also a firearms instructor and a police academy
instructor. Mark also holds the Master Peace Office Certification from the
State of Texas. Mark is a K-9 handler / trainer for the City of Port Arthur,
Texas Police Department. Involved in many high-profile cases throughout the
United States, Mark has worked major cases assisting the FBI, US Marshall’s
Office, Texas Rangers, and other federal, state, county and local law
enforcement agencies. As a canine handler, he has also been called upon to
assist the US State Department, the US Consulates Office and the Mexican
Consulates Office. Mark has assisted on numerous federal and state prison
escapes. Dee Wild - Beginner Airscent Dee Wild has over twenty-five (25) years experience training dogs. She co-founded LaSAR in 1989 along with Lisa Higgins and has served as Director of Training since the Team’s inception. She is an instructor of land cadaver, water recovery, area and tracking/trailing and has presented at seminars in the United States and United Kingdom. Dee has obtained national certifications as a handler and on her K-9 partners in Area, Land and Water Human Remains Detection. She and her canine partners Maggie and Spice, both deceased, and her current K-9 Sky have responded to over 175 searches where they were requested by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arizona and Canada. Dee is a member of the Federal DMORT Region VI Team, Louisiana Mass Fatalities Task force and a K-9 handler with the St. Tammany Fire Protection No. 1. She has authored or co-authored several articles and a book chapter on water search and recovery. Carol Lussky
Carol has
been a police officer for over 27 years
and is currently the Chief of Police of a small town in Northern
Illinois. She began SAR in 1996 with her first dog, Buddy, a blue
eyed mutt. Buddy retired last year. She is currently working
Jake, a German Shepherd, who she's been working for 8 years. She is
a NASAR SARTech II and Buddy was certified with NASAR in trailing and HRD,
Jake is certified with NASAR, NOCDS and was with NNDDA when then certified
civilians. She's been a member of CSAR since 1996 and has only
missed one CSAR seminar. She has previously taught beginning
trailing, intermediate trailing and co-taught advanced cadaver.

He has trained dogs for both trailing and HRD. He has worked a variety of high profile cases, including locating hideouts of Eric Robert Rudolph in the North Carolina Mountains. He has taught dog training and handling to law enforcement officers across the nation. He has been named the North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement Officer of the Year and the Officer of the Year by SouthEastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. He has taught water HRD at the CSAR seminar in the past.
